- Not attempt to interfere with website security or functionality;
- Not submit fraudulent bookings or payments;
- Not misuse website content or systems; and
- Comply with these Terms & Conditions.
3. Age and Participation Requirements
Certain volunteer programs or activities may have age, physical ability, safety, or participation requirements. Volunteers should generally be 18 years of age or older. Younger participants may be accepted for certain programs with appropriate consent from a parent or legal guardian and subject to our approval. Additional age or safety restrictions may apply to specific marine, adventure, or outdoor activities.
4. Booking Information
You are responsible for ensuring that all information supplied during the booking process is accurate. This includes participant names, contact details, dates, number of persons, package selection, transfer requirements, and any relevant special requests. We will not be responsible for problems resulting from incorrect information supplied by the customer.
5. Prices
Prices displayed on the website may be shown in currencies such as USD or other applicable currencies, and may vary depending on package, duration, number of participants, accommodation, transport, optional services, or customised requirements. We reserve the right to update prices for future bookings. Once a booking has been confirmed and fully paid, the confirmed price will normally apply unless there was an obvious technical or pricing error.
6. Payments
Full payment, or the applicable required payment, must be successfully completed before a reservation is considered confirmed unless otherwise agreed by us. Online payments may be processed through secure third-party payment gateways such as PayHere or another authorised provider. By making a payment, you confirm that you are authorised to use the selected payment method, that the payment information supplied is accurate, and that you authorise the payment provider to process the applicable transaction. We do not normally store complete card details on our own servers.
7. Booking Confirmation
Submitting a form or initiating payment does not by itself guarantee availability. A booking is confirmed when payment has been successfully received and confirmation has been issued by Sea Turtles Sri Lanka. We reserve the right to reject or cancel a booking where:
- Availability has changed;
- Incorrect pricing was displayed;
- Incorrect information was supplied;
- Fraudulent activity is suspected;
- Safety requirements cannot be satisfied; or
- Circumstances outside our reasonable control prevent us from providing the service.
Where we cancel a fully paid booking, our Refund & Cancellation Policy will apply.
8. Volunteer Programs
Volunteers are expected to follow instructions provided by conservation staff, respect sea turtles and other wildlife, follow conservation protocols, behave responsibly around animals and habitats, respect local communities and other participants, follow safety procedures, and avoid actions that may harm wildlife, staff, visitors, property, or the environment. We may remove a participant from a program where their conduct creates a safety risk, causes serious disruption, involves unlawful behaviour, or threatens wildlife or conservation activities.
9. Wildlife and Conservation Experiences
Sea turtles are wild animals and conservation work depends on natural conditions. We therefore cannot guarantee the presence of a particular species, turtle nesting, hatching, turtle releases, rescue opportunities, specific wildlife interactions, or any particular natural event during your visit. Activities may be modified when required to protect wildlife or participants.
10. Marine and Outdoor Activities
Certain tours and experiences may involve outdoor, marine, physical, or adventure activities. Participants must follow instructions provided by guides and staff, use safety equipment as directed, disclose relevant information that may affect safe participation, avoid participating while under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances, and exercise reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others. We reserve the right to prevent participation where doing so is reasonably necessary for safety.
11. Weather and Operational Conditions
Tours and outdoor activities may be affected by weather, sea conditions, wildlife conditions, government restrictions, natural events, equipment issues, transport disruption, or other operational or safety considerations. We may modify, postpone, reschedule, substitute, or cancel an activity when reasonably necessary. Where cancellation by us results in a refund entitlement, our Refund & Cancellation Policy will apply.
12. Accommodation, Meals and Transfers
Where accommodation, meals, transport, airport transfers, or related arrangements are included in a package, the exact arrangements may depend on availability and operational requirements, and reasonable alternative arrangements may be provided where necessary. Participants should communicate important dietary or accessibility requirements before arrival so that we can determine whether reasonable arrangements can be made.
13. Customer Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations, rescheduling requests, no-shows, and refunds are governed by our separately published Refund & Cancellation Policy. Customers should review that policy before making payment.
14. Donations
Donations made through the website are voluntary contributions intended to support sea turtle conservation, rehabilitation, protection, education, research, facilities, and related conservation activities. Donations are generally non-refundable except where an error, duplicate payment, unauthorised transaction, or other exceptional circumstance is established. Making a donation does not create ownership rights or an entitlement to control how individual conservation activities are undertaken.
15. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, website materials — including text, logos, branding, graphics, photographs, videos, page designs, and educational content — are owned by, licensed to, or used with permission by Sea Turtles Sri Lanka Conservation Project. You may not reproduce, sell, distribute, commercially exploit, or materially modify our content without prior authorisation.
16. Website Information
We make reasonable efforts to keep information about our programs, pricing, schedules, and services accurate. However, website information may occasionally contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or technical issues, and we reserve the right to correct such errors and update information where necessary.
17. Third-Party Services and Links
Our website may use or link to services operated by independent third parties, including payment gateways, social media platforms, accommodation providers, transport providers, activity providers, and other external websites. Those third parties may operate under their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for the content or practices of independent websites that we do not control.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sea Turtles Sri Lanka Conservation Project and its staff, representatives, volunteers, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses resulting from use of the website or participation in our services. Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law. Participants remain responsible for following safety instructions and exercising reasonable care while taking part in activities.
19. Personal Belongings
Participants are responsible for their own personal possessions during visits, stays, tours, transfers, and activities. We recommend taking reasonable precautions to protect valuable items.
20. Force Majeure
We will not be responsible for failure or delay in providing services where caused by circumstances reasonably beyond our control, including extreme weather, natural disasters, epidemics or public-health restrictions, government actions, civil disturbances, transport disruption, serious safety incidents, or similar unforeseen events. Where possible, we will attempt to provide reasonable alternatives, rescheduling, or other arrangements.
21. Privacy
Personal information collected through our website and services is handled according to our separately published Privacy Policy. By using the website and making a booking, you acknowledge that information necessary for processing your booking and payment may be shared with relevant service providers.
22. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the applicable laws of Sri Lanka. Any disputes arising in connection with our website or services will be handled in accordance with applicable Sri Lankan law.
23. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions periodically. Changes will be published on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. The terms applicable to a confirmed booking will generally be those in effect when the booking was made, except where changes are required by law or mutually agreed.
